Sugar Cane Harvesting

The first step in the sugar manufacturing process is the harvesting of sugar cane. This involves cutting the cane stalks using specialized machines and transporting them to the processing plant. The harvested sugar cane is then sorted to remove any debris and washed to remove any dirt and other impurities.

Juice Extraction

Once the sugar cane is cleaned, it is fed into a machine that extracts the juice from the cane. The juice is then filtered to remove any remaining solids and is heated to remove any impurities. This process is called clarification. After clarification, the juice is concentrated by boiling it in large pans until the water content is reduced and the sugar crystallizes.

Crystallization and Packaging

After the juice has been concentrated, it is left to cool and the sugar crystals are allowed to grow. This process is called crystallization. Once the sugar has crystallized, it is separated from the molasses and is dried and packaged for shipping. The molasses is either used as a by-product or is further processed into other products such as rum or ethanol
